Regular Events Schedule
10am - 11am
Sunday Morning Meditation
In person and on Zoom: Meditation begins at 10 am. There is some ritual, including lighting a candle, bowing, and brief chanting that begins and ends the meditation. There are two sitting meditations, interspersed with a brief walking meditation. The session ends at 11:00.
First Sundays: We start at the same time as other Sundays but at 11 a.m. we will have a Dharma talk by a sangha member or local teacher. People can come for the whole service or simply for the talk and discussion. Vegetarian potluck following talk.
Second Sundays: Follwing the service we do a light cleaning/straightening of the space. A great way to be of service and to meet others.
Third Sundays: Meditation session starts at 10 and ends at 11 a.m., followed by discussion. The focus of the discussion is a reading which is emailed out to all on our list several days earlier.
Fourth Sundays: At the beginning of the second sitting, following the walking meditation, there is a short metta lovingkindness meditation.

Sentient beings are numberless;
we vow to liberate them all.
Delusions are endless;
we vow to cut through them all.
The teachings are infinite;
we vow to learn them all.
The Buddha way is inconceivable;
we vow to attain it.
The Maha
Prajna Paramita Hrdaya Sutra_
(The Heart Sutra)
Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva
when practicing deeply the Prajna Paramita
perceives that all five skandhas are empty
and is saved from all suffering and distress.
Shariputra,
form does not differ from emptiness,
emptiness does not differ from form.
That which is form is emptiness;
that which is emptiness form.
The same is true of feelings,
perceptions, impulses, consciousness.
Shariputra,
all dharmas are marked with emptiness;
they do not appear or disappear,
are not tainted or pure,
do not increase or decrease.
Therefore, in emptiness no form, no feelings,
perceptions, impulses, consciousness.
No eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, no body, no mind;
no color, no sound, no smell, no taste, no touch,
no object of mind,
no realm of eyes
and so forth until no realm of mind consciousness.
No ignorance and no extinction of it,
and so forth until no old age and death
and also no extinction of them.
No suffering, no origination,
no stopping, no path, no cognition,
also no attainment with nothing to attain.
The Bodhisattva depends on Prajna Parmita
and the mind is no hindrance;
without any hindrance no fears exist.
Far apart from every perverted view one dwells in
Nirvana.
In the three worlds
all Buddhas depend on Prajna Paramita
and attain Anuttara Samyak Sambodhi.
Therefore know that Prajna Paramita
is the great transcendent mantra,
is the great bright mantra,
is the utmost mantra,
is the supreme mantra,
which is able to relieve all suffering
and is true not false.
So proclaim the Prajna paramita mantra,
proclaim the mantra which says:
gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha
gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha
gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha

Saturday: Buddhist 12 Step Group (B12) In Person and on Zoom
Buddhism and the Twelve Steps Study Group.
Cost: Free; donations are welcome
The Buddhist 12 Step Study Group (B12) explores how Buddhism and 12 Step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous ( NA, etc), can benefit and nurture each other. Both practices begin with the acknowledgement of suffering, the realization that suffering arises from craving, and that there is a solution. The path of the 12 Steps and the Noble Eightfold Path travel through remarkably similar territory and have much to offer each other.
We meet every Saturday from 7:00-8:30 pm. Following a brief welcoming discussion and introduction period, there is a 20 minute guided meditation followed by reading and discussing books that connect Buddhism and the 12 Steps. We close with a lovingkindness practice.
No dues or fees; no need to pre-register.
No meditation experience or particular faith or spiritual practice is required. Neither is membership in a twelve step program. We are simply people exploring the path out of the suffering brought about by craving and clinging in whatever form it arises.
