BIPOC Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Sangha

Intention and Description

The Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) Sangha is a gathering space for individuals who identify as BIPOC practitioners to gather and build a beloved community. The community will collectively read, contemplate, and reflect on BIPOC and Buddhist wisdom frameworks and writings on suffering and healing.

The sangha will cultivate a narrative space for story-telling and members will be invited to relate and care for their suffering from generational, personal, intersectional, social, and systemic harms (race, caste, class, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and related intersections) by learning and cultivating mindfulness and self-compassion practices. Rooted in communal practice cultivation of safety, mindfulness and compassion, this gathering is intended to nurture a space where individuals can respond to their experiences and embody pathways for their personal and collective dignity, justice, healing and liberation.

Practices will draw from BIPOC and Buddhist teachers who center cultivation of movement, arts-based expression, mindfulness, compassion and wisdom pathways for individual and collective healing and social engagement. The sangha will also invite BIPOC practitioners to lead talks, meditations, and healing-based movement practices for the sangha on zoom and in person when possible.
